Week 2 Tutorial

The process of making the models came in 2 parts. The original building is by the Studio Gang Architect, Solar Carve Tower.

Part one

The first model was constructed by making diagonal lines to make diamond like shapes. This shows the diamond windows on the building. There is also a fold on the inside to imitate the shape of the building.

This building was quite accurate in shape.
The next model is a failed experiment of the attempt to make a diamond-like shape. The rumpled paper describes the uniqueness and oddness of the buildings. The curl also represents of the different idea of the natural square buildings.

The box was an interesting concept. Because they where made up of one sheet of A4 paper that has different sides of the building with different features. The box represent the squarish figures on the buildings that are featured.

Part Two

Now that we were aloud to cut and paste multiple sheets of paper together, of was much easier to produce the result. I used the same methods of making the model, but I taped diamonds on the side to give it a 3D effect.

Compare
It was a lot easier to make the model with the use of cutting and pasting different parts. My design ended up similar but with half the time. It does not look as good which is quite complicated. The exercise was quite exciting and it was interesting to see how I could could my paper to make a design interpretation of the building.
